Meet Brandon Spears

CFMA recently had an opportunity to sit down with Brandon Spears, the CFO of Wayne Brothers, Inc in Davidson, NC. Brandon is also one of CFMA’s 40 Under 40 Honorees. 

Here are 10 interesting facts Brandon shared with us:

 

Q: What time did you wake up this morning?
A: This morning I woke up at 4:45 a.m. Getting up early gives me time to think and it’s the only time I’m not being asked to do something.

 

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is “Top Gun.” I’ve probably watched that movie three times a week for years. I’ve been waiting for the new movie, “Top Gun: Maverick,” for more than a year.


Q: Do you have children? Are you married?
A: I have two children, Ella Rose, four going on 14, and Eli Boone, three, the daredevil. I am married to the most wonderful girl on earth. She’s a dentist and owns a practice in Statesville, North Carolina. She’s a daily inspiration.

 

Q: What energizes you at work?
A: People that come to work motivated to improve energize me at work.

 

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for making the work easier for the people around me.

 

Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was construction site cleanup for a residential building company.

 

Q: What career advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
A: The career advice I would give to my 18-year-old self is, “Winning is great, but losing is part of life. Enjoy the ride!”

 

Q: If your life was a song what would the title be?
A: If my life was a song, it would be “Burning Man” by Dierks Bentley.

 

Q: What three things should every CFM have on/in their desk?
A: Every CFM should have business cards, floss, and pictures of the things that matter most to them on or in their desk.

 

Q: What have you learned about being a leader?
A: Being a leader, I have learned that everyone wants to perform their job successfully. It’s my job to help define what success is and to prepare folks for obstacles they’ll meet on the way.
